Letter from the Executive Director

October 6th, 2022

The October meeting will be special and will be focused on what you would like to see for the 2023 year. The focus will be “Drilling Towards Performance – Steering towards the future”. Some current ideas being discussed include:

Manufacturing – the DD supply chain

Pushing the Limits – Wells that are out there!

Drilling in The Eagleford (and other areas)

Shark Tank – Technology of the future

Hot Hole Drilling

The Future of MWD, RSS, Motors, Bits, etc.

Golf Tournament, Sporting Clays and other networking events

Everyone make sure to budget for IADD next year as there will be a lot of exciting things happening. Not all the events will be Houston-based either.

You will notice that there are a lot more board members in the ranks. We are going to start highlighting a few with each newsletter. A lot of good talent and a lot of good ideas. Upcoming IADD events

Join us for the IADD Annual Sporting Clays Tournament on Friday, December 2nd. The event will last all day, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. We hope to see you there!

Baker-Hughes Rig Count

For last week:

U.S. Rig Count is up 1 from last week to 765 with oil rigs up 2 to 604, gas rigs down 1 to 159, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 2.
U.S. Rig Count is up 237 rigs from last year’s count of 528 with oil rigs up 176, gas rigs up 60, and miscellaneous up 1.
U.S. Offshore Rig Count is unchanged at 16, up 3 year-over-year.

For last month:

International Rig Count is up 27 rigs from last month to 860 with land rigs up 17 to 650, offshore rights up 10 to 210.
The average U.S. Rig Count for August was 764 up 8 from last month’s count of 756 and up 263 year-over-year.
The Worldwide Rig Count for August was 1,825, up 50 from the 1,775 counted in July 2022, and up 391 from the 1,434 counted in August 2021.
