Letter from Executive Director

Our follow up board meeting generated quite a few good ideas for the 2023 year. The focus will be “Drilling Towards Performance – Steering Towards the Future.” Topics and dates are being laid out. The plan is to have the schedule framework completed by the end of October. Everyone make sure to budget for IADD next year as there will be a lot of exciting things happening. Not all of the events will be Houston-based either.

You will notice that there are a lot more board members in the ranks. We are going to start highlighting a few with each newsletter. A lot of good talent and a lot of good ideas. Mark has had 27 years of oil and gas experience, and is currently working as director of strategic business with Hardide Coatings. We are glad to welcome him to the team!

Baker-Hughes Rig Count

For last week:

U.S. Rig Count is up 1 from last week to 764 with oil rigs up 3 to 602, gas rigs down 2 to 160, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 2.
U.S. Rig Count is up 243 rigs from last year’s count of 521 with oil rigs up 181, gas rigs up 61, and miscellaneous up 1.
U.S. Offshore Rig Count is up 1 to 16, up 6 year-over-year.

For last month:

International Rig Count is up 27 rigs from last month to 860 with land rigs up 17 to 650, offshore rights up 10 to 210.
The average U.S. Rig Count for August was 764 up 8 from last month’s count of 756 and up 263 year-over-year.
The Worldwide Rig Count for August was 1,825, up 50 from the 1,775 counted in July 2022, and up 391 from the 1,434 counted in August 2021.
