Letter from the Executive Director

We just had our first board meeting in some time and came up with some plans for the 2023 year. The focus will be “Drilling Towards Performance – Steering Towards the Future." The plan is to have a series of events through the year that address the pertinent issues of the times, culminating in the grand finale in the fall of 2023. Topics and dates are being discussed. Let us know if you have any burning issues that need to be addressed.

You will be receiving more frequent updates going forward as we ramp up the information effort.

Baker-Hughes Rig Count

For last week:

U.S. Rig Count is down 1 from last week to 759, with oil rigs down 5 to 591, gas rigs up 4 to 166, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 2.
U.S. Rig Count is up 263 rigs from last year’s count of 497 with oil rigs up 202, gas rigs up 60, and miscellaneous up 1.
U.S. Offshore Rig Count is 2 to 16, up 14 year-over-year.

For last month:

International Rig Count is up 27 rigs from last month to 860 with land rigs up 17 to 650, offshore rights up 10 to 210.
The average U.S. Rig Count for August was 764 up 8 from last month’s count of 756 and up 263 year-over-year.
The Worldwide Rig Count for August was 1,825, up 50 from the 1,775 counted in July 2022, and up 391 from the 1,434 counted in August 2021.
