The first month of the year has flown by and I don’t expect the pace to slow down.  2020 started off with a bang and a sold out first monthly meeting for the Houston Chapter!  We expect that trend to continue as we have a full line-up of exciting events.

Networking – We have initiated a monthly shooting club called Shooting the SHIADD.  This is a time to get together for an informal gathering and have some fun.  

Information – We are expanding our information services through multiple media outlets.  The broadcast reach of IADD is continuing to expand.  This combined with our training initiatives is serving to get the word out about our industry.

Training – Our training program is growing rapidly.  There are new courses being put together and the existing ones being offered at various locations.  January also marked the inaugural meeting of the IADC/IADD Directional Drilling Training Committee.  We will talk more of this in coming months.

Standards – This same committee of ten of the larger directional companies came together at the offices of the IADC to discuss a number of initiatives that will impact our industry.  Several sub-committees have been formed, including a charter committee that will define the objectives.  There will be more on this in coming months.

Community – I have added this category to highlight an important element of our organization, that is our outreach and support to our communities.  We are especially involved in areas that impact the at-risk youth in our area.  So many of our young people don’t get the chance to experience many of the things that we take for granted.  We will support the efforts of groups that endeavor to make a difference in these young lives. Volunteer opportunities will also be available.

Our industry is changing rapidly as technical and market conditions evolve.  We must help our industry to adapt as this pace of change continues to accelerate.
