As expectations from C-level executives grow exponentially in terms of profit and production, so do the expectations directional drillers face daily to deliver optimal performance and reservoir contact while minimizing wellbore tortuosity in each well drilled.
Designing a BHA capable of building smooth curves and gun barrel laterals has become a common requirement that still presents a significant challenge for drilling engineers, fortunately, being able to rely on multiple sources of expertise and technology to perform their tasks.
Be it an empirical approach, a practical approach and/or simply prior experiences, drilling engineers still have difficulty designing an optimal directional BHA to guarantee the delivery of a smooth well capable of reaching all target objectives determined by exploration teams which yields maximum profits throughout the longevity of the campaign.
On August 22nd, 2019 the IADD is delighted to invite speakers from various backgrounds to present their strategy of designing the optimal directional BHA capable of tackling complex objectives in the most economically viable method, minimizing the probability of failures.

Over the years, the IADD has partnered with Operation Military Embrace, Inc., (OME)—a Texas-based tax-exempt/non-profit 501(c)(3) military support organization that’s helps America’s seriously injured and ill Warriors and their families in their time of need—through the donation of cash and household items (toys, kitchen items, linens, etc.).
This year, we’d like to invite attendees to our Houston chapter luncheons to bring items (clothes, gift cards, food items, etc.), which will then be given to wounded service members at Camp Hope (Houston campus for the PTSD Foundation), as well as other private and VA facilities throughout the year.
