With increasing horizontal departure and complexity of the well trajectory, data obtained from surface sensors, in most cases, cannot accurately describe the downhole environment and operating condition of the BHA. Frequently drillers are faced with situations of low drilling efficiency, excessive wear BHA
wear, catastrophic failures of connections, and short life of electronic MWD components. The associated remedial cost as well as the impact on the actual well construction can significantly impair the economics for the operator.
Starting with additional accelerometer sensors on MWD strings the industry has developed a selection of downhole data tools that can measure an array of environmental and operating data that can be obtained from memory or in real time transmitted to the surface. These data sets have proven to be invaluable to
improve drilling efficiency, the accuracy of wellbore placement, and assist in designing improvement strategies for the drilling, completion, and production phase.
In order to provide a picture of the current state of the technology, its application, and the interpretation of the data, the IADD has dedicated its July 25th luncheon to invite OEM’s, Service Providers, and Operators to share their technology and experiences with the downhole data acquisition
technology.
This can be considered as a follow up event of the MWD technology review in June and is another great event to share lessons learned, provide your input into the discussion, and to capitalize on a great learning opportunity for those new to the technology and or the industry. We are looking forward to seeing
you on July 25th
Donations Requested
Over the years, the IADD has partnered with Operation Military Embrace, Inc., (OME)—a Texas-based tax-exempt/non-profit 501(c)(3) military support organization that’s helps America’s seriously injured and ill Warriors and their families in their time of need—through the donation of cash and household items (toys, kitchen items, linens, etc.).
This year, we’d like to invite attendees to our Houston chapter luncheons to bring items (clothes, gift cards, food items, etc.), which will then be given to wounded service members at Camp Hope (Houston campus for the PTSD Foundation), as well as other private and VA facilities throughout the year.
