Folks, we know you are clay shooters, as many of you have participated in our IADD Clay Shoots in the past. IADD supports a number of local charities who also host Clay Shoots as fundraisers for their members and the charities
themselves.
We thought you would appreciate being aware of these local Clay Shoots and possibly wish to attend. I would like to point out that one of the shoots, FCA, is this Friday the 8th.
My staff and I will be working with FCA at the clay shoot and we would love to see you there. Please let us know if receiving information on activities like these is helpful to you.
As always, we thank you for your support of IADD and of our Industry.

March Monthly Luncheon - "Oscillators"
|
At this luncheon we will present the program ”Oscillators”, hosted by Mike Baraniak with Tomax. Moving the string or agitating the string to reduce string friction and both releasing and transmitting trapped drill string torque resulting in better weight transfer, especially for (ERD) extended reach laterals as they continue to get longer and longer in length can possibly assist and can lead to better drilling efficiency with less stress on the string and wear
on the casing.
In today’s market more and more companies are investing capital to become innovators in this technology even though it has been established for many years.
However, for us all to obtain a more knowledge of how these tools can function and can benefit the directional drilling market with the necessary modeling required for better placement and changes in designs WE need to have a better understanding of the time savings and the economic value that this technology can bring to the table.
Our luncheon and the learning presentations will be held in the private conference room facility on the 2nd floor of the facility. Come meet our Sponsors for this event to discuss their technologies and capabilities.
After the lunch-and-learn, we will enjoy a round of Top Golf and networking in a climate-controlled area reserved for IADD on the second floor of the facility in Spring.

Extending the Lateral & Managing Wellbore Quality Topical Forum
|
REGISTRATION OPENING SOON
Operators continue to face an increasingly challenging environment to safely, economically, and reliably develop and produce hydrocarbon resources. Available surface locations versus downhole drilling targets, the shape and size of leases, as well as the position of existing producers usually require complex wellbore geometries to successfully intersect all targets in the production zone.
As well complexity and horizontal length increases, the production of quality wellbores become an increasingly challenging task. Rotational and longitudinal stick slip are usually the root causes for the inability to maintain tight control of bottom hole operating parameters such as WOB and RPM at the BHA. Wellbore irregularities such as hole spiraling, bottle necking, and sinusoidal waviness contribute to elevated levels of torque
and drag which expands the window of encountering unfavorable drilling conditions. Localized dog legs and ledging are known to create a huge absorption of WOB to the point that it may become impossible to slide. The configuration of the BHA including motor setting angle and / or the programming of Rotary Steerable assemblies are known to greatly influence this effect.
Various operators, drilling contractors, the service industry, and equipment manufacturers have developed a number of technologies, procedures, and software solutions that have proven to successfully address drilling dysfunctions and helped to improve wellbore quality which is understood to be a fundamental requirement to improve drilling performance in extended reach wells. In addition, better quality wells will also aid in
installing completion equipment and facilitate the performance reliability of artificial lift systems.
In order to provide a forum to share lessons learned, define challenges and improvement opportunities, and to get an update on state of the art solutions available, the IADD has scheduled an extended luncheon event on April 11th 2019 at Pioneer’s HQ location in Irving, TX who is providing the facility for us to meet.
Operators, Service Providers, and manufacturers will take the stage and share solutions and challenges for constructing quality horizontal wellbores. This is another great opportunity to learn, share, and provide your input into the discussion. We are looking forward to see you on April 11th.
