The virtual era is here! We had our first simulcast meeting in May with a dozen or more folks in attendance at Landry’s and up to 93 in attendance on Zoom. The folks in person enjoyed the camaraderie and people watching online got to see a good show. This was very encouraging to me.
We are still adjusting our schedule to adapt to a very fluid environment, but for now Our June meeting will be held at Landry’s and also simulcast. This month’s topic will be “Drilling Towards Production”. While operational performance is still critical, we cannot ignore the fact that the person who has the most influence on how a well will produce is the directional driller.
But does he have the information needed to actually make the best decisions?
We will continue with this simulcast format for our monthly meetings and other events. We can reach a much wider audience and it introduces a flexibility for participants. The same will be true for our Conferences and exhibits. I also want to introduce Technology Updates that will give the latest and greatest in a particular technology or application area.
We will be rolling out another feature for the industry as well. The Mighty Networks App is a custom social media and informational network that will be devoted solely to Directional Drilling. This will allow much more flexibility in group communication. Stay tuned for further announcements coming out.
There are many in the industry that are struggling, and our heart goes out to them. But the best thing that we can do is forge ahead and keep on keeping on. We are a resilient bunch, so let’s get drilling!
