Downhole Data Acquisition
Substantial gains in defining and understanding relevant factors that drive drilling performance have been made. Operators, contractors, service companies, and institutions have made major contributions to successfully model BHA static and dynamic behavior, drilling efficiency, bit-rock interaction, as well as lithological properties that are key to expand the limits of directional drilling performance.
The validation of the models and predictions is critical to a proper planning and intervention process that will maximize drilling performance and BHA reliability. Both, surface and downhole data are required to calibrate the various models and to provide a base for drilling optimization for subsequent wells after analyzing the downhole memory
information.
Downhole drilling mechanics data availability streamed up through an MWD, is a corner
stone for real time intervention and optimization which represents a significant stepping stone to create value for the operator. Building on the IADD "Advanced Drilling Dynamics, Beyond Monitoring” forum held in January; we will display and review a number of downhole data acquisition systems available to the industry, explore their data capability, and review new innovative ways to present and analyze the information provided.

Over the years, the IADD has partnered with Operation Military Embrace, Inc., (OME)—a Texas-based tax-exempt/non-profit 501(c)(3) military support organization that’s helps America’s seriously injured and ill Warriors and their families in their time of need—through the donation of cash and household items
(toys, kitchen items, linens, etc.).
This year, we’d like to invite attendees to our Houston chapter luncheons to bring items
(clothes, gift cards, food items, etc.), which will then be given to wounded service members at Camp Hope (Houston campus for the PTSD Foundation), as well as other private and VA facilities throughout the year.
