Operators are faced with increasing challenges to economically develop hydrocarbon resources.  To fully utilize the wells production potential longer horizontal sections are being drilled and completed. The construction of 10K+ ERD wells especially represents significant engineering challenges. Substantial increases in Torque & Drag that are associated with increasing horizontal wellbore departure pose increasing difficulties to control the BHA. Frequently the increased circulation pressure also limits the torque / power capability of the motor and is an additional contributor to some of the disappointing drilling rates seen in long horizontal applications.

During the planning phase of a well, it is critical that factors influencing the successful completion of a well are well understood and incorporated into the well plan. A clear definition of the critical line items will also aid in establishing a better risk assessment and ultimately results into a higher certainty for success. As a result, key performance indicators can be established to initiate an optimization process that will yield continuous improvement.

On January 25th, 2018 the IADD will provide a forum for software providers, well planners, directional coordinators and drilling engineers to explore the well planning process and its mission-critical elements. The event will consist of various presentations and discussions to provide an update on the state of the art and provide a view for future developments that would assist in approving the accuracy of the planning process.

Donations Requested

Over the years, the IADD has partnered with Operation Military Embrace, Inc., (OME)—a Texas-based tax-exempt/non-profit 501(c)(3) military support organization that’s helps America’s seriously injured and ill Warriors and their families in their time of need—through the donation of cash and household items (toys, kitchen items, linens, etc.).

This year, we’d like to invite attendees to our Houston chapter luncheons to bring items (clothes, gift cards, food items, etc.), which will then be given to wounded service members at Camp Hope (Houston campus for the PTSD Foundation), as well as other private and VA facilities throughout the year.

For a list of what is needed, click here. For information on OME, go to http://www.operationmilitaryembrace.com/.

During this event, you may be photographed. Selected images may be used for the
